Spring bars are the small spring-loaded pins that hold the strap to the watch lugs. Invisible but essential, they deserve your full attention.
Types of spring bars
- Standard spring bars: pin with internal spring, shouldered ends. The universal model.
- Quick-release spring bars: a small lever allows them to be compressed without tools. Change strap in 30 seconds.
- Screw-in spring bars: used by some brands (Panerai, Bell & Ross). More secure but require a specific screwdriver.
Choosing the right size
Two measurements to know: the width (must exactly match the lug width) and the diameter of the pin (1.5 mm standard, 1.8 mm reinforced). Discover our spring bars.
When to replace them?
- The spring bar no longer "clicks" firmly
- The ends are worn or flattened
- You change straps frequently (every 2-3 years)
- As a precaution after purchasing a used watch
